little sumtin we cooked up tonight, i'll know in a month if it was a good idea
all herbs dry
boiled in 2 gallons of water for 1 hour:
1 oz Juniper berries
half oz mandrake root
boiled for 15 minutes:
1 oz white sage leaves and stems
1 oz sassafras root bark
1 oz nettle leaves
1 and a half oz yarrow leaves
turned off heat, strained out herbs, stirred in:
3.3 lb liquid dark barley malt extract
4 lb organic white cane sugar
4 lb brown cane sugar
added 3 gallons cold water and poured wort into fermenter (usually a glass carboy but a 5.5 gal bucket was needed for this) tested the sugar content to be only 6 percent, felt it ought to have reached 7 with all that goddamned sugar we added
in a cheesecloth bag weighted with a small stone was added:
1 and a half oz yarrow leaves
1 and a half oz culinary sage leaves
1 oz peppermint leaves
and there was another 2 ozs of sage leaves that had been sitting in another stout for the last week that we threw in hard to measure how effective that will be in adding to the sage content as we were mostly just using it to inoculate the wort with that other stouts ale yeast culture, we only had 'wine' yeast otherwise
this recipe was inspired by "sacred and herbal healing beers" by stephen harrod buhner, a book i recomend to anyone with even a mild interest in herbal medicine and/or brewing

actually its a fucked up brain teaser cause all the characters have kittens.. no that one there isnt maybe a racoon or a possum. 'Four letters with a (kitten)'
there are seven characters 3 of em are numbers. so the directions should just say find the letters not the numbers ignore the kittens. squint at the 0 O l and 1s.  The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can't, not without your help, but you're not helping.
oh and try to find the letters with cats SITTING as opposed to cats standing on all fours
